EXPEDITION ORCA

.......in a 4-week period from mid-October to mid-November, ORCAS WITHOUT BORDERS proposes to you going, living this extraordinary adventure: observe and dive with the residents orcas of the Norway sea. At that time of year, orcas penetrate the fjords of the north of the country to follow the stocks of herrings and eat them during winter. This large annual gathering concentrates several hundred of killer whales which move by groups of 10 to 30 individuals in an area relatively confined that make it easy to spot them and approaching by boat.

..................La operational base of this forwarding is SVOLVAER, fishing harbour located on the Lofoten islands in the north of Norway. During a week, you will live on the M/S BARCA, motorised sailing ship of 55 feet for 8 places capacity (out of crew). The trips will be daily, as often as will allow it weather conditions. Once orcas located, we will use the aluminiumboat, the "Hårek", to approach the pods. When these attractive creatures will allow it to us, we will immerse ourselves in the vicinity and will be approached by the most curious ones. The underwater meeting with this extraordinary predator is an experiment which will mark your existence. The come night, we will return to damping in one of the ports of the archipelago or will anchor in a bay or a FJORD.

A rich and varied FAUNA, single landscapes in Europe thus that incredible SUNSET will make the photographers' happiness. It is possible to make dive in diving-suit in areas sheltered for the case where conditions do not allow the exits in open sea. Normally, a week is sufficient to approach and dive with the killer whales however it is advisable to take account of the fact that wild animals are themselves and, at this title, they are unforeseeable.
