Of all the submarines creatures, the orcas
is without the most attractive. That the Anglo-Saxons call "killer whale"
has, until a recent past, trailed a quite bad reputation. The frightening
effectiveness of this hunter except standard is there certainly for much.
Herrings, cods, places, tunas, sharks, cephalopods but also marine birds,
seals, other dolphins and even …. whales. Nothing evolving, regularly
or not, in marine environment seems to be able to escape from the appetite
from this ogre relentless. Nothing except the human because, inexplicably,
no attack of orcas on a human being, to date, was listed. Whereas, in
the animal kingdom, any rule of life together with exceptions, this one
does not admit any of it. Endowed with an intelligence and a surprising
adaptability, having means of single localization and communication, the
black colossus and white remainder a mystery for the scientists who study
it since many years. The principal explanation resides in the difficulty
in approaching this very mobile animal durably. The observation since
a boat limits the field of study to 5% of their life of surface, thus
depriving the scientists of any information on the underwater activity
of the orcas. All, however, agree for saying that what makes the force
of the orcas makes it very vulnerable. Without natural predator, its birth
rate is by the weakest. His social cohesion is so tight that each death,
each capture is catastrophic for the original family pod. Longliving higher
predator located at the end of the foodchain , the orca accumulates in
his organism all the industrial pollutants present in its food in fact
a window of the health of the marine ecosystems.
